Paul Marland
Paul Marland (born 19 March 1940) is a British Conservative politician.
==Political career==
Marland became an Member of Parliament on his third attempt by gaining the marginal seat of West Gloucestershire from Labour in 1979, he was the first Conservative MP for the seat, the other members having been Labour since the seat's creation in 1950. He had fought the seat in each 1974 election, as well as Bedwellty in United Kingdom general election, 1970.
He served until 1997 when the seat was abolished by boundary changes, as a result he stood in the new Forest of Dean constituency, but was defeated by Labour's Diana Organ.
He was President of the National Conservative Convention in 2005, and therefore hosted the 2005 Conservative Party Conference.〔(Rulemakers who rarely rebel ) The Times May 24, 2005〕
